PowerPoint: Embedding Fonts
“This presentation cannot be edited because it contains one or more read-only embedded (restricted) fonts. To edit the presentation you must remove the restricted fonts, or you can open the presentation as read-only.”
You can control the embedding of fonts in PowerPoint through settings. Since you are getting this error, the embedding is probably ok.
So what is then causing the problem? Font files can define certain rights associated with the fonts. Purpose is protect the intellectual property of font creators. The information embedded with the font.
You can check the properties of font in Windows by checking the file properties. If you are getting this problem, then the embeddability probably is probably not defined as “editable”.
How to fix this? You should investigate the font mentioned in the error message. Were did it come from? What kind of license do you have for it? One option is to find a similar font that is less restricted and switch to that. Luckily PowerPoint has a feature for replacing a specific font with another. You can find it from the Home tab.
